The lives of the people have been blighted for generations by powerful individuals intent on the aggregation personal wealth, but the spell of dominion breaks. Civilians arrange a ritual of disarmament and welcome soldiers back into the community. Revenge is not taken on those have profited from the labours of others but it is clear that each must work to provide for him/herself. Divisions of wealth and privilege are eliminated and everything is owned in common. As respect for one another increases, a feeling for the living fabric of the world is recovered and the true cost of apparent luxuries and comforts is revealed. Time slows down. Life moves closer to its source and the sickening discipline and tension of military-industrial society is no longer necessary. Pleasures become rich and fulfilling. |
