The Harpy - Polly Verity 2006
The
Harpy
A harpy stands quietly, gazing into the distance, her truncated wings
held up as though about to take off.
With their unkempt nests and dirty talons, the harpy strikes fear in mankind not for their chimeric nature but because of the portrayal of femininity, the aspect of the barren crone, they present. They carried away the souls of the dead, served as ministers of divine vengeance and punished criminals.
